Each has characteristics, which manifest as qualities of body and mind. Each person’s individual blend is his or her Prakruti. This is constant throughout life, however the state of the doshas can change. We need to monitor balance to remain well.

Governs all metabolic process in the body
The seed of Pitta is the STOMACH
Governs digestion and transformation of thoughts and emotions
Controls all heat of the body
Excess pitta cause inflammation, burning and heat related disorders; low pitta causes the slowing down of all metabolic functions
Exists in the body as the oily acidic secretions
Positive traits- intelligence, courage, vitality

Kapha- secretions
Earth and water
Heavy, powerful build
Governs stability of body and mind
The seed of Kapha is the CHEST
Provides lubrication for the body
Controls flexibility and growth
Maintains moisture and fluid retention
Kapha indicates mucous or phlegm and is what makes things stick together.
Excess kapha creates congestion on all levels.
Kapha as water is held in the skin and mucous linings, lymph and fat tissues
